Investment Management in Manalapan

We build and look after portfolios that fit your goals, then tend to the small decisions that add up over decades: which lots to sell, where each fund sits, when to rebalance and what it all costs you. You always know what you own and why.

What investment management means with us

Investment management is the hands-on, ongoing work of running your money once a plan is in place. We choose the holdings, set the mix between stocks, bonds and cash, and keep that mix on course as markets move and your life changes.

Most of the long-term result is decided in details people rarely see. A fund with a slightly higher expense ratio, a bond held in a taxable account instead of an IRA, a rebalance done a month too late or a lot sold at the wrong cost basis. None of these looks dramatic on its own. Over twenty years, they matter. We treat each one as part of the job.

Our advisors are Series 7, Series 66 and SIE licensed. We meet at our office or by phone and video, so clients across Manalapan, Marlboro, Freehold and nearby towns can work with us in whatever way suits them.

What the work includes

An allocation built from your goals

We start with what the money is for and when you will need it, then set a stock, bond and cash mix that matches. A portfolio for a retirement ten years away looks different from one meant for grandchildren.

Careful fund and security selection

We compare expense ratios, tracking, liquidity and overlap before anything goes into your accounts. Two funds that look different on paper can hold many of the same companies, and we check for that.

Asset location across accounts

Where a holding sits can matter as much as what it is. We place tax-inefficient assets in IRAs or 401(k)s where possible and keep more tax-efficient holdings in taxable accounts.

Disciplined rebalancing

We set clear ranges for each part of the portfolio and bring it back into line when it drifts, using new contributions or withdrawals first to limit unnecessary trading.

Tax-aware trading

When we sell, we look at specific lots, holding periods and any losses that could offset gains. Our Tax Management service goes deeper for clients who need it.

Plain reporting and regular reviews

You get clear statements and a scheduled review where we walk through performance, costs and any changes we made, line by line.

Signs it may be time for professional management

Accounts scattered in several places
Old 401(k)s, a brokerage account and an IRA or two, none of them looked at together. Scattered accounts often hide overlap and drift.
You are not sure what you own
If you cannot say roughly how much is in stocks versus bonds, or what you pay in fund fees, the portfolio is running without a plan.
A big change is coming
An inheritance, the sale of a business, a new job or retirement within a few years all call for a fresh look at risk and timing.
Market swings keep you up at night
A mix that is too aggressive for your timeline makes it hard to stay invested. The right allocation should let you hold steady through rough stretches.
Tax bills that surprise you
Unexpected capital gains distributions or short-term gains are often a sign that holdings and accounts are not working together.

How we work with you

  1. 1

    Introductory meeting

We talk through your goals, timeline and how you feel about risk. You tell us what you have, and we explain how we work and how our fee is structured, in writing.

  2. 2

A close look at what you own

We review every account, holding and cost basis we can see. You get a clear picture of overlap, fees, tax exposure and how far the current mix sits from where it should be.

  3. 3

    A written proposal

We lay out the allocation we recommend, the specific changes and the tax cost of making them. If moving slowly makes more sense for taxes, we say so and plan the transition in stages.

  4. 4

    Ongoing care

Once the portfolio is in place, we monitor it, rebalance within the agreed ranges and meet with you on a regular schedule. When your life changes, the portfolio changes with it.

What shapes the cost

We do not quote a fee until we understand your accounts and what you need from us. At the introductory meeting we explain how our fee works and what it covers, so there is nothing to discover later. A few things move the cost more than others.

Size of the portfolio
The amount under management is usually the largest factor in how investment management is priced.
Number and type of accounts
A single IRA is simpler to run than a mix of taxable, retirement, trust and custodial accounts that all need to work together.
Tax complexity
Large embedded gains, concentrated stock positions or detailed lot tracking take more time to manage carefully.
Scope of related work
Some clients want investments only. Others pair this with Financial Planning, Retirement Planning or Legacy Planning, which changes the scope of what we do.

Investment management questions

Can you promise a certain return?
No, and you should be wary of anyone who does. Markets rise and fall. What we can control is the mix, the costs, the taxes and the discipline to stay with a sound plan, and those are where we put our attention.
Do I have to move all my accounts to work with you?
Not necessarily. We will look at everything you have and recommend what makes sense to consolidate and what can stay. Sometimes a workplace 401(k) is best left where it is, and we can still factor it into the overall allocation.
Will selling my current investments create a big tax bill?
It can, which is why we check cost basis before recommending any sale. If the tax cost is high, we may keep some holdings, sell gradually over more than one tax year or use losses to offset gains.
How often will we talk?
We hold scheduled reviews and reach out when something meaningful changes in your accounts or the markets. You can also contact us by phone whenever your situation changes, and we can meet at our office or by video.
How is this different from wealth management?
Investment management focuses on running the portfolio itself. Our Wealth Management service brings that together with planning for taxes, retirement, insurance and legacy for clients who want everything coordinated in one place.
